Costa Palmas is a residential resort development dedicated to diversifying and renewing the tourism experience of Baja California Sur and Mexico. It became the gateway to the Sea of Cortez, promoting the emergence of a new tourist corridor: the East Cape.
The Costa Palmas community has been built by promoting social development with the participation of the East Cape’s local communities, thus ensuring that all development initiatives are sustainable and support the well-being of every member.

The Costa Palmas community sees tourism as an opportunity to improve social well-being through close collaboration with the different parties involved such as the government, civil associations, residents, and tourism companies to ensure that development initiatives are carried out in an orderly and responsible manner so as to protect the area’s natural resources.
The main goal of the Costa Palmas project is to boost the budding tourism in the region, diligently safeguarding the ecosystems of the area and staying true to sustainability while firmly aligning with global tourism trends, which highlight the importance that travelers place on unique life experiences and opportunities to explore new places, in spaces that care for our planet and promote cultural diversity.

ENVIRONMENTAL
Costa Palmas is a resort that focuses on environmental conservation. We conduct monitoring studies regarding water quality, the coastline, and protected areas in order to prevent, reduce or mitigate environmental impact. Additionally, we invest in conservation programs to preserve native plant and animal species.
SOCIAL
Costa Palmas has positively impacted the community for over a decade.
Costa Palmas’ objective is to collaborate with the community and the public and private sectors to further the social development of the East Cape through various educational, athletic, and health-related programs.
ECONOMIC
Costa Palmas has sparked economic growth in the area that promotes the development of Baja California Sur.
Costa Palmas represents an investment of more than US$2 billion, as well as an important source of employment for the community. This strive to boost local development turns Costa Palmas into a social cohesion project and a space for opportunities to improve the quality of life of the people in the community.
OUR FIRST ACTIONS
In 2015, Irongate, a real estate development company based in Los Angeles, CA, acquired Desarrolladora La Ribera (formerly Cabo Riviera). We then started to work with members of the Ejido La Ribera mainly made up of farmers, former owners of the portion of the land where Costa Palmas is now located. As a result of this relationship, Costa Palmas developed community initiatives consistent with supporting the abundant agriculture in the region.
That same year, we launched a pilot program in local schools called “LEARN, GROW, EAT & GO!” a project based on the Junior Master Gardener program from Texas A&M University. This program marked the beginning of a series of educational efforts, initiatives, and activities made by Costa Palmas to further the community’s social, environmental, and economic development.
